About Us
Who We Are
At Black Bear Tree Service, we’re proud to be a small, family-owned business serving Clayton and the surrounding North Carolina communities since 1999. Led by Bill, a small-town lumberjack with deep roots in Maine—the heart of logging country—our approach is grounded in honesty, hard work, and a true love for what we do.
Bill comes from generations of tree fellers, and his expertise is built on years of hands-on experience learned in the backwoods of Maine. It’s not just a job for us; it’s a craft honed over decades and passed down through family tradition—because at Black Bear Tree Service, “It’s In Our Roots.”
We’re here to provide dependable, professional tree care with a personal touch. When you hire us, you’re not just hiring a service—you’re gaining a partner who treats your property like their own.

Our History
Black Bear Tree Service began in 1999 with a mission to bring reliable tree care to our local community. With nothing more than a chainsaw, a dream, and a whole lot of grit, Bill built the business from the ground up, relying on the skills and work ethic instilled in him by his family of lumberjacks.
Over the years, we’ve grown one satisfied customer at a time, earning a reputation for trustworthiness, expertise, and genuine care. While we’ve added modern tools and techniques along the way, our core values remain unchanged: honesty, hard work, and treating people right. Check out our Blog page for common customer questions.
